You can save the extracted information as plain, formatted text or as XML or RSS / Atom feed for future processing in all installed codepages and Unicode.

On Windows 10+, Miraplacid Text Driver 2025 includes OCR capability. It can extract text from image only print jobs or jobs which do not contain text.

Miraplacid Text Driver adds an icon to the desktop. All the documents you drag and drop to this icon will be printed behind the scenes and processed by Miraplacid Text Driver. Turn "Auto Save Mode" on to handle text extraction and processing automatically, without waiting for your input, and without User Iterface.

Filenames and paths of the resulting files can be constructed using special tags:

{{TERMINAL}}, {{DOCNAME}}, {{EXT}}, {{USER}}, {{MACHINE}}, {{SYSFOLDER}}, {{PAGE}}, {{IDENTITY}}, {{JOB}}, {{DATE}} or {{TIME}}

They will be replaced with appropriate values.

With "Redirect to" option, you can print original print job to your physical printer at the time of extracting text. It allows you to edit redirected print job in EMF format.

You can choose between Unix(LF) and Windows(CRLF) line breaks.

You can create multiple virtual text printers in your system, each with individual settings. If you need to save one document to disk file and send the other by email, just print the first to one virtual printer and the other - to the second virtual printer.

Text Driver works as an external "Save as" feature for printer-ready software systems which allows to extract text document content and send it to various destinations.

Miraplacid Text Driver supports text printing from DOS programs.

As a developer, you may control printing process from your own scirpt or program.

Miraplacid Text Driver can be uninstalled anytime.

OCR comments

If print job does not contain text, Miraplacid Text Driver converts print job pages to images and extracts text from from these images. This method of text exctraction does not guarantee 100% of text restoration accuracy and its quality is hightly dependent of used fonts, document layout and content density. To use this method successfully in automatic mode, you need to print several test document of the same kind and verify that everything recognized ok. Please, test quality and correctness of documents generated with OCR.
